I have been teaching volunteers in the United States how to pack food for starving children around the world for three and a half years. Feed My Starving Children strives to give hope to the hungry by providing a fortified meal packet that is put together by volunteers, but until today I have only seen the food on the front end. To walk into a room full of the boxes we work hard to pack back home took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. Knowing what we are doing is indeed making a difference in the lives of children and families here in Haiti gives meaning to the work of Feed My Starving Children. Not only did we get to see the food in storage, but we took a walk around St. Louis du Nord and held hands with the very kids eating the food. We got to hug them, dance with them, and share in their hopes and dreams! This opportunity is indeed a blessing from the Lord….and it only gets better. Tomorrow morning NWHCM is allowing us to prepare the food and serve it to the kids….that means opening the bags of food, cooking it over charcoal, serving it up on plates, and handing it to the kids! I have been encouraged to work even harder to educate and encourage volunteers back in the United States to know that the time and money they give to FMSC is bringing hope to those who are hungry in body and spirit. The Lord is working mightily through the ministry of NWHCM and I am thankful that I get to be a vessel of the Holy Spirit.
