Team from Gilliespie

Today was a busy day. Kara spent time with the little ones, went with the others to Hope House, which is for very ill children as well as others. She played with a little girl and talked with the grandmother. She bought some sugar cane! She also went to the Meals on Foot program. She said it was very interesting and very sad.

Linda spent time counting pills. As she said it’s a job that everyone hates, but it’s needed.  They put some pills into bags for a 30 day supply. She then asked an interpreter to go with her as she visited the clinic and other places.

Today was our day to do dishes, and Linda lead in evening devotions.  She did a great job. We sang a few old hymns and she shared from the Psalms. It rained really hard to night, but has stopped.

Since the deaf school is not open (the Gov. had schools open Oct 4).  We visited with Fender(deaf school teacher) for a few hours.  They he went to visit the deaf kids to tell them to come tomorrow for a special class.  Some of the people were not home, so we don’t know how many will come. We also worked with Stephen, a young boy with CP who is learning sign language. A few of the other special needs kids learned some signs. Linda joined us for the last of this time. Oh, Linda SIGNED to Fender and did a great job. He also gave her a sign name!
As Fender was leaving he saw a deaf friend who helps the mission some outside in the court yard sick. We took him into the clinic. He doesn’t sign much as he’s never been to school. His stomach area hurts. They gave him an IV, Fender went to buy some medicine. We think they will keep him all night.
Much more to say but we need to close. Keep praying!
Kara, Linda, Vicki and Debbie
