Sunday we started our day a little tired due to staying up late the night before in the birthing center. Unfortunately, at 2am we decided to call it a night after the woman we had been helping was still not close to giving birth. We were surprised as we walked into church to see Loveda, a nutrition program little girl, running towards us with open arms. We were able to sit with her and her mother and enjoyed the three-hour long service. The church’s choir sang beautifully. After church we went down to the Gran Moun to spend time with them, painting fingernails, giving massages, coloring pictures, blowing bubbles, and accessorizing with feathers and stickers. Many laughs and smiles were shared. We then spent the remainder of the afternoon with the Miriam Center children. We preformed a skit of Noah’s Ark; face painted, and sang many songs. Monday morning we left the mission after breakfast for Anse-a-flour. We road on a tap tap and enjoyed the beautiful ocean views as we drove through the mountains. We held a VBS in the crowded church, made crafts, sang and passed out crackers. We then billy goat hiked up to the monument which has now become a popular place for Haitians who practice Voodoo to worship. We also went to the Voodoo temple. We then got to enjoy the beautiful beach before heading back to the mission in the late afternoon. We went to English class to help but we learned they were having a test so we headed back to the mission and played with John from the Miriam Center before having dinner and devotions. Looking forward to a spending a day in St Louis tomorrow. Planning to spend time with our old and new Haitian friends and any other opportunities that are presented to us.
