This morning we had some free time so Emily & I went to the Mariam Center and just hung out with some of the precious children. Then we headed down to the Granmoun to hang out with some of the elders. We took an interupter so we actually got to have conversation with them. It was great. Then our whole nursing group (Myself, Dia, Anna, Emily, Staci, Liz, Trista, Rachel, & Sam) did a clinic in the Mariam Center. We did assessments on 15 of the 35 orphans with special needs. Such a wonderful experience and so different for many our of students. Personally my heart is fully involved with the orphans with special needs. After lunch we got the wonderful oppurtunity of going into the town and handing out TOMS shoes. It’s so wonderful to be on this side of TOMS shoes and see faces of the recievers. The experience was incredible. Nothing like I’d ever imagine. The love of these Haitian people are not comparable to people in the U.S. You walk outside the mission gates and a child attaches you and walks the whole town with you until you come back. And we were out for a couple hours. I can’t even summarize how great today was. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I didn’t expect to be crowded. Crowded doesn’t even begin to explain it. But it was great to explore the town and see what life looks like. I could go on FOREVER. Everything here is beautiful & our group is loving it here. Everyone is alive & well! We, as in I, don’t want to think about leaving
